We take up our position with the authority of our living Lord Jesus Christ entrusted to us, invested in us. We long for our nation to know more of God. We long for righteousness and holiness in the land. We stand in the Love of God, a posture of repentance and humility, ready to intercede for our nations.
First, we refuse to stand on the outside looking in and pointing the finger in shame, accusation, condemnation or judgement. Rather, we come on the inside in identification of the sins of the people, rulers, and land. Just as Daniel in Daniel chapter 9 took responsibility for the sins of his nation (sins that were not his own in any way), and just as Jesus took responsibility for the sins of the entire world (sins that were not his own in any way), so too, as sons and daughters of God we can take responsibility for the sins of our communities, regions, and nations, bringing these before God in confession and repentance.
“God we come before you in the name and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. We silence all lying, deceiving, and confusing spirits, binding these to silence and ineffectiveness. God, we want to hear from you and you only.”
Where two or three are gathered we then ask, “God, if there is something standing between this nation (named) and you, what might it be?”
And in the quiet and the listening, ears turned to God, we hear from Holy Spirit. A sin is named (one sin at a time). And we, because we have already done our own inner work with God over the years, we recognize that sin as our own.
“Ah, yes. I know this sin. This sin has been my own in the past.”
We are now in position (humility), and a proper stance (the love of God), to repent on behalf of a people’s that do not yet know how to repent for themselves.
Note: There is a great weave of despair over people and over nations. it is like a tightly woven blanket that hovers over our heads, blocking out light, doesn’t allow breath, leaving us parched and dry, without the oil of the Lamb. but, when the people of God take it upon themselves to repent of their own sins and then the sins of the land, the strands of this very tightly woven blanket begin to be pulled, released. and by and by, as led by Holy Spirit, this horrendous weave of despair given over to sin, is relaxed, loosened. and the light of God begins to filter through. the breathe of God begins to blow through. the reign of God can begin to reveal, to convict, to make new, and to draw all people’s unto the Lord. where there has been death, life begins to be restored.
“God, we come before you today in the name of our Living Lord Jesus Christ. God, we recognize this sin (and we name it). For this has been our sin as well. We are sorry Lord. We confess this sin as that which binds an entire people and this nation (named) from your glory, from redemption, salvation, restoration, from justice / righteousness and holiness. We say ‘No More!’, ‘Enough!’ to this sin (named) in the name of Jesus.
And with the strong arm of our Lord Jesus Christ we reach into the past, and where this sin (named) first began we uproot it, carefully and completely, leaving nothing behind. We unwind the chains of this sin off of our nation (named) and land, peoples and places, towns and villages, high places and valleys. No more this day.
In the name and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ we declare every link of every chain severed, and to all authority, curses, and assignments of the enemy that have been over our nation (named), our community (village / neighbourhood, town, district, named) we say no more! All authority, curses and assignments of the enemy are this day cancelled, declared null and void, impotent to effect, rendered silent and stripped of all authority, in the name of Jesus.
All of these things, everything attached to this sin (named) that the true Lord Jesus Christ sees, all authority, assignments and curses of the enemy, must all go this day to the place where the true Lord Jesus Christ chooses to send it.
God, what might you have for us in place of this sin?
Ah, yes, we are glad to receive (that which Holy Spirit told you, was for you) in the name of Jesus.
Thank You Lord. May this (that which replaces the sin) settle into our land and peoples, our region and our nation in full measure, pressed down and running over, all in the name and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen and Amen, with all glory to You God. All glory to You.”
