We agree, believing all the statements made in the Nicene Creed.
The Nicene Creed (381 A.D.)
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
Through Him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried.
On the third day, He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
In Our Own Words:
1. The Bible is God-breathed Scripture:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV
2. Jesus is the Word of God:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
3. God, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, is the one-body community in which we are included:
“Being one body and one spirit, as you were all called into the same glorious hope of divine destiny. For the Lord God is one, and so are we, for we share in one faith, one baptism, and one Father. And He is the perfect Father who leads us all, works through us all, and lives in us all!” Ephesians 4:4-6 TPT
4. Humankind is condemned by sin and knows brokenness:
” For we have all have sinned and are in need of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 TPT
5. Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour, the exact imprint of God:
“The Son is the dazzling radiance of God’s splendour, the exact expression of God’s true nature–his mirror image! He holds the universe together and expands it by the mighty power of his spoken word. He accomplished for us the complete cleansing of sins, and then took his seat on the highest throne at the right hand of the majestic One.” Hebrews 1:3 TPT
6. Jesus Christ is the ONE by whom we are reconciled to God:
“Jesus explained, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the Father except through union with me.” John 14:6 TPT
7. In God we have our healing and our wholeness:
“There the Lord made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them, saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.” Exodus 15:25b-26
8. There is resurrection of our earthly bodies from death to life:
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11 ESV
9. The Gospel, or Good News, is God loving us back to wholeness:
“In other words, it was through the Anointed One that God was shepherding the world, not even keeping records of their transgressions, and he has entrusted to to us the ministry of opening the door of reconciliation to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:19 TPT
10. We are called to justice and mercy:
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV
11. We are called to be people of peace:
“How joyful you are when you make peace! For then you will be recognized as a true child of God.” Matthew 5:9 TPT
12. Love is the greatest commandment:
“Above all, constantly echo God’s intense love for one another, for love will be a canopy over a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8 TPT
13. We are co-regents with Christ:
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19 ESV
14. Together we are the temple of God:
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16
15. The church are people. People are the church:
“So, guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock – his church, purchase with his own blood – over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as elders.” Acts 20:28
16. Nothing can separate us from the Love of God:
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
