Walking In Spiritual Authority – Part Three – Spiritual Authority

Spiritual Authority ultimately plays out as a function of who we are. We move from doing to being.

While it is straightforward to take orders the Lord calls us into a deeper kind of walk and work of the Spirit. The power of who you are, your passions, your dreams and goals and the visions given you by the Lord are welcomed in the King’s Kingdom.

For more than anyone else he gets you, sees the real you, and expects you to join him.

Taking back this world for God requires full participation of all of us.

Part Three: Spiritual Authority & Moving Forward

It is in losing our life that we find it. And here in Spiritual Authority we begin to bring all of the prior lessons into a practical grid by which we do life. Under the radar and hidden in the light of Christ has us experiencing and making a difference in our own lives and in this world.

  • war | taking the land | our Lord Jesus Christ | respect for the enemy | birthing authority | expressions | thresholds | heart | will | risk | human | discernment | wisdom | language | cleansing | holiness | presence | markers | no renegades allowed | freedom

We are better together. Moving forward has us settling into the best of each other. In the community of the body of Christ we find a culture of strength and empowerment. We find our impact here and now stretches forward beyond time.

  • answerable to God | who’s on the bus | ministry | how big is your God | fear | support system | persecution | strength needs support | in the game | your team | four pillars | falling | open lives | for the church | transitions | spiritual freedoms | binding | claiming | sealing | eternity

Pushing through and into ministry that carries on after us requires certain things. After the initial investment and excitement comes time for staying power. For yet more faithfulness, more transparency, more authenticity.

For more love, more wisdom, more courage and more strength. These we find in the body of Christ. The work is bigger than us, and while we may find courage as one, we find strength as many.

Walking in Spiritual Authority – Part Two – At the Cross

The human construct of our hearts, minds and psyches are equipped for the work of the lord by a systematic and deliberate process of breaking down and rebuilding.

Much like a process of increasing physical strength through weight-lifting, we too must be poured through a rigorous regimen to break down our protective barriers, our fear based reactions and the default buttons by which we do life.

There is a meeting of hearts in this experience that will never be found in a simple meeting of the minds. We engage both heart and mind and find in that intersection a full vision and experience of God.

Part Two: At the Cross & Leadership

The chaff of our lives must be brought to the cross. Anything that leaves us compromised or weak must have the breath of the Spirit breathed through. The concern with self must be surrendered, with spiritual disciplines taking its place. We steep ourselves in love, holiness, and the covering of Christ.

  • ego | humility | compassion | empathy | emotional health | heart | spirit | discipline | mastery | all about God | spiritual authority resume | prayer | faithfulness | obedience | holiness | permission | cooperation | vision | calling | character development

We will be surprised to find that the Biblical perspective of leadership is far different than we suppose. Not only is it more powerful than we ever imagined it actually will require of us more than anything we ever thought. Stepping up to the plate is the opportunity of our lifetime and a gift to our age.

  • leadership and healing | people | spiritual arrogance | timing | advanced in the kingdom | the second witness | declaration | spaces | spiritual assignment | staying true | brokenness | levels of authority | how big is your sword | bearing witness | words | action | body of Christ

The years of preparation are never a waste. While there are seemingly random events and circumstances to our lives we realize that God has indeed had every single detail worked out in its minutest form.

We are stretched to trust him with our very lives, and once the King knows he can trust us we move in him and have our being through him in ways we never imagined.

And because he knows we follow well he says, “Lead on, we are backing you.”

Prayer Ministry

renewal pic tovel!Over a dozen years ago I began my own deliberate journey of inner healing. At the time I wouldn’t have named it this, as I really could not foresee what or who I might be going forward. I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

But life at the time was falling apart around me. I was stuck and needed help, and so began a six-month commitment of prayer ministry. That six months turned into about six years of deliberate healing – a journey I would forever more be grateful.

What I didn’t know at the time was that I would one day be blessed to stand alongside others in specific inner journey’s. That’s where I am today and have been for some years now.

Trained in a number of methodologies the basic premise and work is simply coming alongside another as we together seek the Lord’s wisdom and clarity and healing.

Where there have been lies we break them. Where there are strongholds from years gone by we say ‘No More!’ And where chains of compromise have become thick and heavy we simply declare them smashed.

All of this is done in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, for after all it is only because of his work on the cross by which we claim any freedom whatsoever. In and of ourselves we are stuck. But in God, everything opens up. Everything becomes fresh and new.

We simply are new creatures in Christ. Free to shine. Equipped unto strengths. Friends of God.

Today we do this work one-on-one in the Vancouver area in addition to this being the foundation of inner healing and deliverance that we take to the nations.

In agreement and in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we are breaking strongholds, restoring emotional strengths, and bringing deep spiritual refreshment everywhere we go.

“And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt;
    you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
you shall be called the repairer of the breach,
the restorer of streets to dwell in.” Isaiah 58:12

Volunteer

P1080581 compressedThe Capturing Courage Team @ Home has many opportunities for your gifts to bless the greater work. As the work grows, we have need of many specifically gifted and passionate hands and hearts.

Located in the Greater Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada, we are a fledgling organization on a shoe-string budget at this time, and are therefore dependent on the people that come alongside us.

If you have a desire to be a volunteer in the work of CCI here is a summary of what we are currently looking for:

  • Website Help: There are a number of things we want to do with our website, and blog plus more, that we are not equipped to do at this time. If you are needing a showcase project or simply wanting to tithe your time and talents to a non-profit organization, we want to connect with you.
  • Editing Ability: We are looking for book editors who either have a heart to donate partially or in total towards the books we are working on. With both volunteer and paid opportunities we need an editor with expertise and heart and a desire to be part of something bigger than themselves.
  • Project Managers:At CCI we have a number of projects under way on the home front, and we need a few individuals who are interested in becoming a part of our Action Teams towards strengthening our home base.
  • Event Managers: We are looking for action oriented individuals to take on any one or all of our annual and regular events. From women’s events to yearly fund-raisers, if you are pumped about making things happen, and happen well, we’ve got a spot for you.
  • Errand Support: There are multiple and numerous little things that must be done from week to week. And much of this job is simply about driving here, picking that up there, running for this or that. If you have a vehicle and love to run errands, we’ve got a few things you could do.
  • Overseeing Support Materials: When we speak and present the work from place to place, we like to have our support materials ready to go and well maintained. Things like prayer cards, books to sell, photos and story boards, and more, need a keen eye and good taste to manage and implement. If this sounds like you, we would love to have you part of the team.

Walking in Spiritual Authority – Part One – The King’s Heart

Your particular gift set, your experiences, your story and your unique personality are perfectly matched with the needs of this day and age. Learn how to completely settle into your own life and then into how to give it away.

This course is for those who want to do more with their lives for God and for others. It is for those serious about leveraging all of who they are for The King, the Kingdom of God and for people, the great loves of The King’s heart.

Your life is currency. How might you invest it? Learn how to express it.

Part One: The King’s Heart & Understanding Authority

The entire conversation about spiritual authority must solidly reside within the context of the Kingdom of God and the work of Jesus Christ. In Module One: The King’s Heart we dig deep into the character of God and how everything about who we are can reside within the light of Christ.

  • the King’s heart | the Kingdom of God | Lex Rex | becoming indispensable | value and worth | fullness of God | process | alignment | shining | ambassador of God | sowing and reaping | judgments | intimacy | strength | influence | transparent | safe | bold

In our humanity our understanding of authority is often skewed and misrepresented. Not only have we been hurt by authority in the past, but many of us shrink from authority. In this we leave our legacy of co-regents in the Kingdom of God aside. It’s time to unpack Godly authority and take it on for ourselves.

  • overview of authority | natural authority | positional authority | specific authority | cautions about authority | church authority | spiritual authority | growth | experience | authority gone bad | transformation | anointing | assignments

Spiritual Authority is all about representing the King of Kings. It is about working out His will on this earth. It is about stepping up, taking the land and restoring to God’s original plan the details of our lives and our communities and this world.

Before we can know authority we must know its author. Risking to open our heart to the King of Kings, risking to have his heart opened to us we are equipped from deep inside to live authority that mirrors him and expresses him. That place where all things are made new.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, and Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Isaiah 40:28-29 ESV.

The Veil

P1080387 compressedIn coaching we are quite aware that just behind our knowing, just beyond our understanding, are answers and solutions and provision that we are not yet aware of.

As a coach my role is to facilitate a client in seeing what they could not see before.

Again and again I’ve seen and experienced this, where there seemed to be no answers, and then voila, answers begin falling into place.

When we are blind we cannot see what is right at hand yet just out of reach.

It is the same for ourselves in virtually every area of life.

We see dimly or not at all, and meanwhile a myriad of good things are right at hand, we simply don’t know it!

A week-plus ago I lost my keys. For an entire weeks time I’ve been unable to open my mail-box; mail has been arriving I could not access it, and had no idea what was there.

Meanwhile I’ve been nearing another trip to Uganda. Over the last few weeks since saying out loud, “Yes, this trip appears that it will happen.” each day has been an exercise in waiting on some things, putting action to other things, and simply, almost hourly, laying my fear out before the Lord.

“I am so freaking out right now God!”

Part of the waiting has been the full financial provision for the trip. Then its been wanting someone to stay at my home and with my kids while I am away, and a ton of other little things as well that all needed to be arranged and acquired.

With hundreds of people waiting on me in Uganda, with promises made that I am arriving and these are the weeks and here is the agenda…

And yet with no plane ticket bought, it would seem many moments of insanity,

If it wasn’t so clearly a trip of faith.

(But man has my faith been stretched!)

Every single day has been a day of waiting expectation…

Waiting for just that sense that ‘Yes’, time to buy a ticket…

Waiting for enough money to say spring into action…

Knowing it’ll be there…

Waiting…

Praying…

Continuing on in action in every other way… waiting…

Monday morning I woke with a clear sense of ‘Today I need to finish packing my bag.’

Still no ticket bought…

Packing…

As the early morning turned into mid-morning it became apparent that it was time to buy that ticket, and so it’s been purchased and I’m leaving on Wednesday.

Many of you will in fact be reading this while I am in flight.

With the ticket bought, confirmations back to Uganda made regarding my time of arrival, with my bag packed, I received a replacement key to my mailbox near the end of the day.

And right there, sitting for over a week’s time, right there but not known about, a cheque for over $2000.

I am reminded of the veil.

We are told in the Bible that when Jesus died on the cross that the veil in the temple was ripped in two. The veil being the division between human beings and God. This veil, hiding the secret things of God, was removed through the work of Christ.

Jesus’ coming ripped that veil in two, making a way to know God intimately. God is right there, but we haven’t always seen or perceived or understood.

And along with God comes the provisions and answers and solutions of our lives.

It is all right there.

All the answers.

All the solutions.

All the provision.

Even if we cannot see it, even if we cannot perceive it, even if…

It is all right there, just at hands reach, if only we could see.

A walk of faith is simply walking forward in the midst of NOT seeing the full answers, while simultaneously having the living God open our eyes to see provision and receive understanding in increasing fashion.

My own last weeks of faith walking have felt pretty brutal in a lot of ways. I’ve been stretched and pulled and pushed in ways I never would have chosen.

And yet I know that a walk of faith simply boils down to putting action to conviction, and so I’ve been busy about putting some action in every single day in order to be ready.

And while it all seems upside down (doesn’t one buy a ticket and then get ready instead of getting 100% ready and then buying a ticket!), in the realm of the supernatural where faith walks happen, it makes perfect sense.

For the answers that we cannot yet see, are right there; just behind the veil, just behind our perception, just outside our paradigms and beyond our understanding, but there nonetheless.

If we will only allow our minds and hearts to see in a different way.

A favorite verse of mine, “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.” 2 Corinthians 3:18

A relationship with the living God removes the veils from our faces. We understand things of the spirit that we had beforehand never even imagined.

Christ removed the veil between us and God, and now God removes the veil between us and the provision and answers for our lives.

With unveiled faces, from glory to glory

‘Jesus thank-you so much for removing the barrier between me and God. I accept this work done on my behalf, something I could not do myself, and I welcome your work and presence into my life. God thank-you for making a way that I can see and know and understand all you have for me. I invite your knowing into my life. Teach me to see beyond the veil.’

Jesus Christ: the original coach, opening our paradigms and understanding every single day!

I’m interested in what lays just beyond my understanding, beyond the way I naturally go about life, beyond what I can come up with on my own,

What about you?
